It’s Done!

The 2023 Wedding Season.

To end the season, I thought I’d add a few words in order to summarise the year.

In short, it was great.

I say that at the end of every year (well except 2020 and 2021, ‘The Covid Era’ where I covered 6 instead what should have been up to 60 weddings, but hopefully all talk of Covid will cease to exist by the conclusion of this post), but I genuinely mean it.

Barely a hiccup other one of my cameras having a minor fit (switched to the back up very quickly so no harm done) and a flat tire on the way to the final wedding of the season (quickly fixed and nothing missed!), but otherwise a pretty seamless year.

But to continue the ‘Covid Theme’ very briefly and then I am done with it, this year saw the last 6 or 7 postponed weddings from the 2020-2021 season so we finally got to them and concluded those!

The rest of my season, from early April to the final day of September, was a mix of ‘old’ & new venues (other than for one single venue), making each wedding unique. Which is great and something I very much look for in a booking. Not just any and every couple that comes along, but what is going to be ‘different’ or special about YOUR wedding?

And as of yesterday, I finished the finale edit and delivery of the last wedding of the season, so other than admin etc, it’s time to turn the wick down a bit as it’s been pretty relentless as it is every season with basically 7 day weeks for 1/2 a year non stop.

The first thing I did though was hop over to Dublin, Ireland for my first Hyrox competition after missing out on Barcelona in April due to injury. Bordeaux next at the end of April ‘24…

The off-season is a time now to take a bit of a breather (though I have already been on one new wedding venue shoot for their website/marketing) and a time to take stock.

Over the course of every season, a ‘To Do’ list begins to form and over the coming months, I will be getting proactive in that and there’s some exciting new stuff coming for the 2024 wedding season…

Speaking of the 2024 wedding season, the diary is ‘officially’ fully booked.

There may still be some availability however but it depends on the following…

For reasons of; workload (every wedding is typically 9-12 days work in total), turnover & tax thresholds and simply work/life balance, I ‘artificially’ limit annual bookings these days to 20 weddings.

There are a couple of prime dates still available and for any couple who are keen enough, I may be able to have my arm twisted. But if not, it just means more BBQ’s. I like BBQ’s.

And to conclude, a BIG THANKS to everyone that made 2023 a success; - suppliers and clients (inserts clap hands emoji), - it was, as it always is, a combined effort.

Simon
